In 1979, I was 2 and my parents bought a brand new Supercab F150 shortbed. I started driving it at age 11. My Dad and Grandfather taught me how to drive in it. I drove it all through High School. In 1993, me and my Dad started customizing it, but in 1995 he had a stroke and wasn’t able to work or drive ever again. Just so happens that same week I had an accident in the truck. It took a major hit and it has been setting for many years now. During that time, I have been saving up buying and storing parts for it. Fast forward to now, I’m a High School auto mechanics teacher. Me and the kids started restoring the truck a year ago. See, last year my Dad was diagnosed with cancer. The prognosis wasn’t long, 6 months with no treatment, but a year or more with treatment. He couldn’t do chemo because of his other health problems. So, he’s doing Autoimmune therapy. I am trying to get the truck back to drivable and road-worthy so him and I can go cruising a few more times like we use to. I have built a very nice engine combo for the truck around 680 horses. Daddy doesn’t know what I built for the truck, it’s gonna be a big surprise. I can’t wait to finish and see his reaction. I need some body panels, floor pans, weatherstripping, and body mounts. Maybe a few more things, but me and the kids at school have been hard at it everyday. They’re as excited as I am. This is my truck’s story, to be continued.
