My first Silverado.  Best vehicle I’ve ever had.  Hands down.

This truck came to me in February 2021 and at a great time cause I was in need of a vehicle.  I had been driving a 2000 model S-10 since about 2006.  The little 4 banger was a great truck but was going down hill and it was time for a change.  So just so happens that my boss had acquired this Silverado from his uncle in Florida and brought it back to Tennessee to sell for him.  My boss called me on his way back from Florida and wanted to get me in that truck.  I didn’t really have the money at the time to buy it outright but we worked out a deal and I got the truck.  Those LS Silverado trucks are by far the most awesome truck built in my opinion, and they’re tough.  Mine was equipped with the 4.8 liter and only had around 166,000 miles but the truck hadn’t seen any highway time and had just been very well taken care of by a senior male from Florida. The drivetrain is tight and to me the best combination of power to weight for a 2wd pickup truck.

As I said I acquired the truck in February of this year and almost a month ago I had an accident.  I was coming home late and had had a pretty hard week at work and well needless to say I dozed off at the wheel and when I opened my eyes I was leaving the road and all I saw was a light pole that was actually part of an embankment.  I hit the pole dead center right between the frame rails and crashed my truck.  I am okay and wasn’t even hurt from the crash but the sound was horrible.  The airbag deployed but didn’t even touch me.  I had my seatbelt on as always and the only part of me that was even slightly sore was my hip from the lap belt.  My heart was crushed from crashing my truck like that.  I just couldn’t believe it had happened.  I’m still sick over crashing the best truck I’ve ever owned.  But the good news is I am okay and my truck can be fixed so that’s the next step for my truck.

The frame was damaged mainly the left front from the core support to the motor. Heck the doors and rest of the body were still flush and in line and the only thing damaged on the motor was the clutch fan and water pump. The radiator of course and an ac condenser but the motor is good to go other than trust. I am a very lucky man though and all I can say is the good lord was watching over me that night and I’m very fortunate to be here today.  Best I could tell is I left the road at about 60 mph, no breaking at all cause there wasn’t any time to hit the breaks and with the base of the light pole below where I hit it the pole broke in half.  So I basically jump my truck into this light pole and caused a pretty big mess that shut down the highway from midnight till about 7am.

It sure could have been a lot worse and I can’t wait to get my truck back going on the road.  Just got to get me a front clip core support fenders … all of the above. Get my frame fixed and get it back together and I’ll be set.  Definitely have a new respect for these trucks.  Built like a Rock for sure.
