Part of the family for 50 years

My grandparents bought this 1971 F100 brand new sealing it fate in the family forever. The story goes that a young lady purchased this truck in ‘71 and upgraded to the Explorer package D which came with all the goodies at the time. The young lady ended up not being able to afford the payments and sold it to a used car dealer and my grandfather purchased the truck from there. Everyone in the family has their own story about this truck from family trips, accidents and being stranded on the side of the road. We all laugh about the stories because we all can relate some how. After my grandfather stopped using the as a work truck around 2000, it was given to my dad and then sat for a few years with weeds growing all around it. In 2004, my dad gave the truck to me and I drove it up until 2012 when the motor finally gave out. From 2012 to February 2020 the truck sat in storage and when Covid hit, I decided to pull the truck from storage and get it running with a rebuilt motor. In April 2020 my grandfather was diagnosed with a medical condition and wasn’t sure how long he had to live so I did my best to get the truck roadworthy so my grandfather could see the truck, go for rides and tell his stories of the past. My grandfather past in January of 2021 and the truck is still going strong with more adventures and stories to come.
