I factory ordered this truck with all available options in April of 1975. For the first few years it was a weekend cruiser, dressed up with big tires and slotted aluminum wheels. By 1980 it was used as a normal pickup for hauling things around the house and was not used much.
In 2002, with 23,000 miles on the odometer, it was placed in barn storage. In 2018, the decision was made to give the truck a complete off-frame restoration. I commissioned a well know restoration shop that specializes in Corvettes. They had never done a truck before so they were eager to take on the challenge. There was only a small amount of surface rust and the mechanicals needed updating, re-sealing, etc., so things went well. The restoration was completed in August of 2020.
Minor engine modifications to the original 360 V-8 were completed (cam, intake, carb and ceramic coated headers). The engine was dyno tested and produced 314 HP and 365 lb. ft. of torque. The body was re-finished in the original Hatteras Green color with PPG Deltron. The interior is 100% original. For tires and wheels, I went back to the 1975 look. U.S.Mag slotted aluminum wheels and Michelin Defender tires.
I found the hard-to-find parts at LMC and there are a few more small items to change, so I’ll reach out to LMC again. 46 years later, it is now a labor of love!
