1993 Chevy Indy Pace Truck

I purchased this truck from a private owner in the summer of 2015. I did not know much about these trucks at the time, just that I liked how it looked and that it would enable me to haul my Triumph Bonneville motorcycle around to various track events.

As time wore on and I learned more about these unique trucks, I became more interested in preserving and improving it. It had already undergone a number of modifications including C-notched and lowered rear axle, dropped front spindles and springs, aftermarket 5-spoke mad wheels and low profile tires, custom billet front grille, recessed lights, tailgate latch moved to inside, solid fiberglass locking tonneau cover, billet dash components and steering wheel, a Whipple supercharger added to the stock 350 V8.

When the engine started showing signs of leaking cooling fluid into the combustion chambers, I decided to replace the engine rather than rebuild it. I went with a Blueprint Engines 383 Stroker with a Holley Sniper EFI intake, MSD ignition, Flowtech headers, a stainless dual exhaust system, BeCool aluminum radiator with dual electric fans, and a K&N cold air intake.

The original 4L60E was rebuilt with a shift kit and upgraded internal parts to handle the extra horsepower. It is controlled by the programmable MSD Atomic Transmission Control module.

I replaced the rear drum brakes with an SSBC disc brake conversion kit and upgraded the front brakes with their billet calipers. New slotted and drilled rotors all around with a new brake master cylinder really gives the truck the stopping power it needs for the added horsepower and torque.

I replaced the fiberglass tonneau cover with a locking and folding aluminum cover by Peragon, along with applying Herculiner bed coating. I had the truck repainted without the Indy Pace Truck graphics for a cleaner, more modern look.

LMC Truck parts have been used in many areas of the truck in the years I have owned it. This includes the rear roll pan, all new polyurethane suspension bushings, and mounts, rear taillights, front headlights, and turn signals, interior switches, and dash and door components, to name just a few.

This truck is a “keeper” and my daily driver. I get many looks and great comments all the time from admirers.
