American 72 C10

I bought this truck for $1100, as it sat rotting away in some guys back yard. I always had dreams of building a ratty “shop truck.” Once I got it in my shop, tear down went quick. With the help of my daughter, friends and wife we got it to frame in a few weeks. I thought I’d be driving it in no time, boy was I wrong. I bartered for some help with metal work and that hole next winter my good buddy, who owns a restoration shop, and I picked away at the cab. I ended up buying another 2 trucks for a cab, installed LMC floor, cab corners, inner cowl, rockers and used another trucks firewall. I found a 5.3 LS and decided one day it will have boost so I bolted it to.a 4l80 and through a tsp stage 2 cam in it. I ended up doing a brand new bed. Then another great friend of mine is a cabinet maker. We built the custom flag bed. Mahoney, maple, and walnut. All the stars were hand cut and inlaid into the walnut. It was then time to decide on paint. I wanted satin black, my buddy said he wouldn’t paint it, “to boring.” So off he went with his creative mind. We ended up with a satin urban gunmetal, and gloss magma red. Once I saw it on the truck, I fell in love. I’m in the final stages of buttoning it up. I had it out with my daughter last weekend, and we put 80 miles on it, she smiled every mile of the way!
