The Story of Ole Red

In 1983 on my way to pick up a TV from my friend that he was giving away who would have thought that I would be a proud owner of a 1964 GMC step side in which I named Ole Red. There she (Ole Red) sat in the car port next to my friends place looking sad with trash bags in the back being used as a trash truck. I went over to the gentlemen’s house and we started talking about his truck. After awhile talking I asked him if he would consider selling. After haggling on price for a little bit we came to an agreement. Then when filling out the paperwork for the truck I noticed that I was only the second owner of the truck. On the drive home I was wondering if it would make the 50 mile drive I had home with the engine missing and sputtering a little from being mainly kept parked. Once I got Ole Red home I started to fix it up and all it needed was a few minor things such as new plugs, a condenser, and a distributor cap in which I proceed to drive Ole Red for 20 years. I decided to park the truck in 2003 for a newer ride and in hopes I would get to restore her to how she was in 1964. In 2017 there was a decision was to be made either fix up the truck or get rid of it Per my wife so obviously I wanted to fix it up. With the help of Mount Ida Service Center and Wrecker Inc. and my friends Brian and Robert and the purchases of parts from LMC Truck Parts and Accessories we did a frame up restoration back to stock and how she originally looked back in 1964
