Gurdy

My husband and I just got a 1977 F-250 Ranger, the special thing about this truck is it belonged to my grandpa. He bought it almost brand new while he was serving in the Navy living in Arizona and named her Gertrude. He gave it to my mom after she got married; her and her ex husband eventually sold it. That was the last we seen of Gurdy (Gertrude). On March 26, 2020 this world lost an incredibly man, my grandpa, Calvin Post Jr. After doing some searching I was able to find Gurdy and buy it from the current owner! It has been 17 years since we have seen this truck. We got her to our buddy’s shop and opened the glove box, all of the receipts from parts my grandpa had purchased for Gurdy were in there, his signature was on everything. His seat cover I remember from when I was a kid was still on the seat. My grandpa’s smile could make anyone on this Earth smile, in one of our darkest times this truck made my husband, his brother and I happier than we have ever been. It was incredible to watch their hearts light up as if grandpa himself just handed over the keys. It may sound crazy but I KNOW my grandpa was their with us that night smiling his best smile. He would be so proud of us for finding his baby and knowing she’s in good hands. This truck was his pride and joy, he worked on every peice of her, the people we bought her from didn’t take the best care of her. Although it is kind of disappointing it also means my husband and I get to restore this amazing truck with the family we have created. It is the best goodbye we could have ever gotten from him. We miss and love him more than words can describe but when we ride in this truck it’s as if he’s right there with us enjoying the drive.
