When I was 14 there was a good friend of ours that had an old 1983 Chevrolet k10 that he used as a wood truck. It was in rough shape from carrying wood and getting beat through logging trails. As soon as I saw it I had to have it. I knew it was in rough shape around the edges but I could see that it just needed a little work. I tried to buy it but he wouldn’t let it go. So I kept talking to him about it and he finally told me a price. $800 cash. I was 14 and didn’t have a good steady job at the time so I worked on our farm and mowed lawns to make money. In September of 2017 I finally had enough. I had to have it.

We went to the guy’s house and I handed him the $800. He handed me the keys. He owned the truck for a long time and had a lot of good times in it so I’m sure it wasn’t hard to let go to a 14 year old that just wanted a truck to beat around in.

We didn’t really have plans for a restoration. Dad and I got to working on it to make it unique and decided we would restore the whole thing. We got to shopping on LMC Truck and decided that was the best place to get parts so we started ordering. They were amazing to work with and always helped with what we needed. When the parts started coming in we started building. The only thing that did not come from LMC is our floor pans, seats, gauge cluster, and engine parts. We made it unique with those parts by making a custom gauge cluster and putting new style seats in.

I am now 17 and the restoration is complete. The memories made while building this truck are ones I will never forget. It made an unbreakable bond between my dad and I and it made a truck I can never let go of. Thank you to LMC Truck for the service and help while finishing my build. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to get my parts.
