Built Not Bought

This is my 1987 Chevrolet K10 truck. I bought the truck when I was 16 years old. From the moment I saw the truck sitting out in the back yard of my work, I had to have it.

The truck was in rough shape; it had been sitting for 7 years. The cab corners were rusted through; the bed was bent and had holes in it. But after a lot of learning and patience, I transformed the old girl into a showpiece.

Rebuilt the 6.2L diesel and put a gm4 turbo on it along with 6.5 diesel serpentine belt set up. Replaced the old 4 speed manual with a 5 speed manual. Sanded all the old faded and chipped paint. Cut and welded new cab corners along with all the other rust spot. Although a lot of people nowadays put on big fancy lifts and massive rims with small tires, I didn’t want that. I wanted the old school look, factory gunmetal grey, 16” American Racing rims and 35” tires. That’s the way a square body Chevy should look.

Took 7 years of work to get the truck to where it is today. Everyone knows me for my old Chevy. It will always be a part of my life. It means more when you build them, rather than buy them.
