Hello everybody, my name is Rick. I’m 58 years old and I’m hearing impaired (deaf). I live in Antioch, CA, one hour east of San Francisco. I am a certified automotive mechanic. I graduated from South Seattle Community Collage and then worked as an equipment maintenance mechanic for Contra Costa County for 30 years. In 1989 I went to Winter Chevrolet, the local Chevy Dealership in Pittsburg, CA, and ordered a brand new Silverado C-1500. I waited for 3 months while the truck was being shipped to the West coast from the factory back east before I could take delivery of my brand new, blue Silverado C-1500. My truck has been garage kept since it was brand new in 1989 and I only used it on weekends for the last 30 years while I working for the county. My truck is rust-free and the interior look almost new. There aren’t even any cracks in the dashboard. I performed an R-12 A/C system retrofit to a R-134a system by myself, without any help. I installed a brand new A/C compressor, dryer, and I replaced all the old black O-rings with new light green silicone O-rings. I installed 2 cut-off switches and flashed the system. The A/C is blowing very cold which I need because it gets very hot here in the summer. The Engine and transmission and rear axle are all original, stock front suspension. Original front springs and rear leaf springs with 111,400 miles. After market parts that I’ve installed are the A/C compressor, dryer, water pump, alternator, distributer, u-joints, oil pressure gauge and fuel pump, shocks, tires, and the front turn signal lenses. The engine runs smooth as like new, without a gross polluter smell. Since 1989 my truck has passed each smog tests, has never been late on maintenance, and has no accident damage. I was a maintenance mechanic so I know how to care of my truck. Maybe soon I’ll get a LMC truck bench seat upholstery kit have a local upholstery shop take care of the install. I’m planning on a new 2 tone paint job in the next few years with the original blue on top and flat black on the bottom. Thank you for reading my story!
