Ole Red

My 1993 Dodge Ram D250 with the 5.9L Cummins Turbo Diesel engine, was purchased used by my family in 1996, with just over 60,000 miles on it. It was given to me to start with as a high school graduation gift. Over the last 23 years of ownership, Red proved to be an incredibly reliable and tough truck. We used it from everything to general work around my dad’s farm, to delivering cars via trailer throughout the midwest US; during our years operating a car hauling business on the side. Red never skipped a beat. In the mid 2000’s, my dad became the primary driver, and continued to use Old Red daily until 2015, when he finally decided to purchase a new vehicle. At that point my dad decided to give it back to me, rather than sell it, or trade it in. I had since moved out of state, so we had Old Red shipped from Ohio to my home in North Carolina. Now with 240,000 miles, and years of Ohio winters, Old Red needed work. It still ran and drove, but needed a ton of TLC. Being a stalwart fixture in our family story for over 20 years, I decided to do a frame off restoration, at my home shop. I restored Old Red from the ground up; paying attention to every last nut and bolt. LMC Truck has been a great resource and supplier of the hard to find body and trim parts needed to bring Old Red back to life. The restoration was completed in June of 2019. Unfortunately my dad passed away in 2018 and was never able to see it completed. Old Red is now “retired” from working, and I drive it on the weekends and take it to local car shows.
