My daughter’s first truck. “Pearl”

This is Pearl. My 17 year old daughter’s 1966 F100 custom Cab. She wanted an old truck for her first vehicle. We bought Pearl before Abby had her license to drive. It took us about 18 months to fully restore her but Pearl was back on the road by the time Abby took her test. Now they are inseparable. She drives Pearl every day to school and work. It was a family project. We did a full restoration with the help of my dad, daughter and my new group of friends (and slick 60’s enthusiasts) who I met during the restoration.

It has the original three speed automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes and a freshly rebuilt 390 FE. Except for the paint everything was original when I bought her. The only rust was in the tailgate and cab corners. Everything else was solid. My Daughter added her own decorative touches. I recently posted some pictures of the restoration online and one of the original owners recognized it and contacted me. It was his father’s truck and he learned to drive in it over 30 years ago. That prompted me to find the first owner. From the name written in the owner’s manual I have since researched and found the person who special ordered it from the factory as well. Pearl is part of our family now. My Daughter loves her dearly and drives her everywhere.
