I have been looking for an affordable Pre2000 C1500 Suburban for quite a while. While flipping through Marketplace on Facebook I came upon a 1999 C1500 Suburban 2WD from Texas. The photo’s looked real good and it only ad 180,000 miles on it. I messaged the person selling it. I was her first response so we agreed to meet immediately near her home. I took cash with me just in case this was the one. Well, it was. I took it for a test drive and noted all the little issues with it and no major ones. Seems it was a one family owned vehicle. Her father purchased it new then passed it down to her. I paid her the asking price and drove it home.

Well to my delight, the body is straight the inferior just needed a good cleaning and absolutely no rust. Here in Ohio they spray the winter slurry on the roads and it eats vehicles. To find a unit with 0 rust on it is a rare thing. I began to tinker with it immediately. Little items like radio knobs missing, carpet needing cleaned, interior light bulbs burnt out.

Next on to the meat and potatoes of needed repairs. Along with the original owners manual came all the maintenance records for it. So I started at the front. Upper control arms needed replaced. shocks all the way around, tune up “cap, rotor, wires, coil and plugs”, rep[lace all fluids with Mobil synthetics. Engine had been on Mobil One since new. Replace fuel pump. New tires and of course wheels. A good wax job and here is my 1999 C1500 2WD Suburban.
