Dante’s Peak.
The film that started it all.

Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve always wanted that Suburban. My dream finally came true on June 16, 2018. I bought a 1987 Chevrolet Suburban in Prescott, AZ for $2900. It was pretty rough and needed a lot of work. But I knew it was the one. It’s a 3/4 ton 4×4 with 114,000 miles, 5.7L V8 TBI, and a Turbo 400 trans. My father and I completely stripped all the old paint off, and repaired all the body damage. Most of the parts that we replaced came from my local U-Pick It. We bought all the equipment needed to paint the Suburban ourselves. As most of you know, the accessories on the movie vehicle are pretty much impossible to find. I knew it would probably take years to find what I was looking for, so I decided to create my own version.

I found a roof rack and a front bumper from a guy in Prescott who was parting out a Suburban. It has an ARB Safari Snorkel that was made for a Toyota. It’s sitting on American Racing wheels, and stock 235/85 R16 tires. I will be doing a 4 inch lift and upgrading tires very soon. I’ve added KC lights to the roof rack, and will be adding lights to the front bumper, along with a winch. I will also be making a rear swing out for my spare tire, and other equipment. It took us 6 months of weekends to get it to this point. But the journey is far from over.

It’s hard to make a long story short, but thank you for letting me share my dream with you.
