I had agreed to buy the ’86 W-150 Power Ram (orange one on the trailer) from a guy selling it on Facebook. It was said to be road-ready, except for an ignition timing problem. Well, that was by far not the truth. I was going to show up with a ready-to-run MSD distributor and swap them out in his driveway, then drive it home. Good thing my gut told me to trailer it. This truck is now a work in process, and will hopefully be road-ready come spring!

As for the trip, my younger brother, Chris, and I took off early on a Sunday morning. We had to drive from Chilton, WI to Lansing, KS and load the truck up the same night. That’s a 10-hour drive, and 610 miles in one day!

We arrived around 9:00 p.m. and the seller already had the wheels off and up on jack stands. My aluminum car hauler has rails running down the side for additional strength, and the aftermarket wider rims and tires would not fit on top of it. I actually bought another truck, an ’87 from Iowa, that had the skinny wheels and tires I needed to load this truck up. So, between all of the trips, the Ramcharger accumulated over 5k miles in about two months’ time. We mounted the new wheels/tires and loaded up the orange beast with little effort.

Monday morning we rolled out for home, but there was NO way I was going to drive straight home. Not when I was within a reasonable distance to stop at LMC Truck and meet the people I buy from regularly. I was greeted by a nice gentleman out front, who actually gave us some advice in regard to pulling into the customer parking lot with my trailer. Turns out, this was a VP for LMC and he instructed your photographer to come find us in your store. I went home with plenty of parts.
