It was my junior year of high school and I had been saving all my life for a truck like this. I had always wanted a dually old body style in good shape. The truck was owned by my neighbor and I drove past it every day, I wanted it so bad. I finally gathered up the courage to knock on his door to ask him some questions about it, maybe if he’d be interested in selling it. He showed me everything on it and agreed he would let it go for the right price. Well about a week passed and the truck was finally mine. My dream truck I always wanted was finally mine. Not doing anything crazy being I was still in high school, did some minor upgrades such as glowshift gauges and just a bit of cleaning up to everything. Fast forward to about a year after graduating and one day I was crawling around under the truck and noticed maybe a 4-5 inch crack in the block. This devastated me and I couldn’t let it go. Saved up some more and bought a 1990 Dodge W250 with a 12 valve cummins and I was going to swap in all by myself. I parted out most of the truck and made most of my money back and put it all back into building the engine. A couple bolt ons including, new turbo, custom crossover pipe, custom valve covers, resealed the whole engine and a fresh coat of paint. Within the whole process we completely rebuilt the front suspension and added 6 inches of lift with a new set of 35 inch Dick Cepeks. With the help of my father we got the 6.5 pulled out of the truck and began cleaning it up and prepping it for the 12 valve. Months went by and I would be outside every day making things perfect and doing everything exactly how I wanted it done. I still don’t consider it done because I plan on doing an all new interior and a new coat of paint this coming winter. I love driving the truck and answering questions many people have to ask me at all the local shows around me. That is the story of how I made my dreams a reality.
