My 1965 Ford F-100, “Effie”, was originally purchased by a farmer in Soda Springs, Idaho. It has a 240 6 cylinder and a 3 on the tree.

Dateline Iraq: November 2011, two days before my birthday. I had not talked to my parents in a few months and now I was able to call home. Bad news, they had rolled my truck! Thankfully both of them were fine but the truck was totaled. So for my mid-tour leave I went back to home to Idaho to take the salvageable parts off of my wrecked truck.

While there I had spotted this little green ’65 F-100 with a For Sale sign in the window. We were always traveling opposite directions though, and I was unable to catch him. Then it was time for me to return to Iraq.

With tears in her eyes my mom said goodbye and asked me if there was anything she could do for me. I said no, and that I was fine and just thankful that they were both all right. As we hugged goodbye, I remembered the little ’65 F-100, and I quickly added for her to find me that truck! My parents found it and I bought it. All is good now!
