I’ve had several Blazers in the past for plowing vehicles. When my 1985 Blazer lost the battle with the Upstate NY winters, I started my search. A friend of a friend of a friend said he knew were there was an ’89 Blazer in great shape, but no motor. I purchased the motorless Blazer for $300. My buddy Tod Barlow and I came up with the idea of using the spring and axles out of a 1979 GMC K20 P/U to make a heavy 3/4 ton Blazer. We purchased new floor pans, rubber flooring, rockers, heat shield, sound deadened matting, and 2500 door molding badges. We wanted something different for the sill plates, so the amazing staff at LMC worked off the dimensions I gave them and found the sill plates for a ’66 pickup would work, with a little trimming. After minimal body work and a fresh coat of paint, I was off plowing…… a year later. To keep the nostalgic look, I’m using the 16 inch rims, old school hub caps, and bias ply tires. Thank you LMC!
