This is my 1968 GMC 1500 4×4 short bed (A.K.A. Labor of Love).

Originally the truck was purchased new in 1968 by my uncle, who used it every day for work. He knew I loved the ’67-’72 pickups, so when my uncle retired in the early 1980s, he gave his truck to me. It was an all matching numbers, 2-wheel drive, 6 cylinder, 3 on the tree bare bones work truck when I received it, which I converted into a 4×4 and what you see now. For the longest time the truck sat in my shop, until about 1995, as I was only able to work on the truck in my spare time. I started the frame off build and finally finished in 2008.

All of the work was completed by myself. While I am still making some small modifications and improvements, I will always be working on my labor of love. Future plans include air conditioning and a power brake hydro boost, as a standard power vacuum booster cannot be used because of low vacuum due to a heavy cam. With the 205 new process transfer case (all gears, no chain), I can easily smoke all 4 tires with no concerns. Special thanks to LMC Truck as the majority of parts were purchased through them.
