I purchased this 1985 Chevy Silverado C-10 truck brand new from a local dealer for $12,500 after finishing high school. This was my first new vehicle I purchased on my own and to this day still have it. I have driven this truck back and forth to work for the past 32 years and it still gets there reliably. The truck now has 169,200 miles on the original engine with no motor replacement. Other than replacing the starter, water pump, and other things like that, it still purrs like a kitten.

The paint was starting to oxidize, chrome was coming off and the interior was- well, it was looking a little aged and in bad condition but I still drove it every day. After about 3 years of my wife & 3 daughters telling me to “fix Goldie up,” I started buying parts last year, little by little, to get ready to give it a new look.

Last November after Thanksgiving, I made the leap and started stripping her down. Might I say, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into! It took me 2 days to take her apart, but it was a long four months of putting this truck back together by myself, with a little help from my family.

After getting her back together, and a day before Goldie’s 32nd birthday, I entered her into our first car show. Although I didn’t win a trophy, I was proud to say I could tell my story to people that came by to see it, that this was my first truck, a one owner, and I am still showing it off.
I hope you enjoy it as well!
