My son got his drivers license and needed a vehicle. This Chevy was his grandpa’s and was parked out back of his place since 1984, and looked like a great father-son project. We towed this to his other grandpa’s shop and started tearing it down on my birthday, Jan 08 2017. We installed a 5.3L Vortec and 4l60e four-speed transmission from a 02 Tahoe, an np241c transfer case and cross member from a 91′ K5 blazer as well as a 31-gallon fuel tank. Both differentials were rebuilt and we installed 4.11 gears. All suspension, brake, and steering parts were replaced including the 4″ lift kit and springs. When it came to the body it was clear coat the original patina and replace all of the chrome, glass, interior, bumpers, and grille with parts from LMC. While these are only the highlights, there was 3 months of father, son, grandfather time building, teaching, and learning.
