Last year 2015 at 14 years old my dad and I were looking at old trucks online for sale and we found a ford 1964 f 100 in California. My dad called the owner. His dad had bought the truck brand new and it was left to him when he passed away. He told my dad that we could have it for $2000 if we got there by Sunday. It was Wednesday so we put the cab on his Chevy packed some clothes rented a uhaul trailer and left Thursday morning. We live in upstate NY but Sunday morning we were pulling into his driveway in Napa Valley, California. The truck was on blocks. We checked the truck over, it was rough on the inside and black and faded on the outside but I loved it right away. We found some tires, paid and loaded it up and we were home Thursday. It was a long ride but it gave us a lot of time to plan our rebuild. We sand blasted the whole truck inside and out redid the front suspension, all new brakes and fuel lines. My favorite part was looking through the LMC catolog and ordering parts. Installing new parts was the best! My dad did the hard stuff like painting it the Holly green and reupholstered the seat, but every thing he did I was right there trying to learn all I could. He had me polish all the chrome, but then I was able to put it on. The engine was rebuilt by the previous owner so after a tune-up and new carburetor, my dad has been driving it all over. I’ve driven it in fields and the school parking lot but can’t wait until I am 16 next year! So this is my first truck! It was a real fun father and son project. I plan on owning it forever! There are already a lot of memories in the truck and I have hardly driven it yet. Thanks to LMC and the parts they sell and to my dad who made my dream of owning a classic truck possible.
