This was the first truck my dad bought brand new in April 1954. With his trade in of a 1942 International that wasn’t even running, he paid $1600. It came with a metal bed but he made them change it to wood. The truck was used in our family-owned paint business and was always garage kept.

In 1981, I decided I wanted to paint it and fix it up a bit to show. I had a lot of help and I actually had to paint it twice, but I was so proud I went ahead and started showing her. It has 67,000 original miles and has been painted twice since the 80s. I showed ol’ Betty (as I call her) for over 20 years. She never won best of show but she received a lot of attention just because of her style. Don’t see too many of them around anymore.

She sat for severalĀ  years but she is up and running as mean as ever. Little did my dad know that one day his little girl would be painting and refinishing the wood bed and ordering parts and accessories from the LMC Truck catalog. Thank goodness for your catalog or I would never be able to keep her in such good shape.
