For decades I had driven past the old Ford in the field. It wasn’t until my friend Philip Beltrami, said we should get that old truck and “fix ‘er up!” We discussed with the owner “R.D.” if he wanted to sell, and he said “Sure, those can be pretty pricey”. I said they were expensive only if they ran. RD said it ran when he parked it there, and the keys were still in it. The problem was, he parked it there in 1979 and it was now 2010. Phil and I purchased it and hauled her back to St. Helena, CA. The frame off restoration took 3 years and many deliveries from LMC. The engine is an 8BA flat-head 8 with 3 on the floor. We were not sure of the original color until we looked under the dash and discovered it was green. Our friend Randy at our local body shop had the recipe for the color match. It was 36 months of work, but Phil and I remained friends all through the project, and enjoy taking it out through Napa Valley.
