I bought this truck after I returned from deployment. Needed something to calm me down. Found Bertha (that’s the name of my truck) on Craigslist. Went to go look at her and I knew it didn’t matter how bad she looked or how much money it would cost me to make her beautiful again I was going to buy her. I drove her back to the house and started taking parts off. Now mind you I have never rebuilt a vehicle. I was and still am eager to learn. During the process of taking her apart I had to move her out to work on another truck. The starter went out so when it was time to move her in with the new one which I wired wrong she caught on fire.I ran inside telling my wife call the fire department saying BERTHA IS ON FIRE!!! I then realized it was going to take too long so I grabbed backing soda and threw it on the wires that went ablaze. Since then Bertha is slowly coming together and gives me a little trouble here and there but what can you expect from a 51 year old that has never been truly restored. She is allowing me to learn body work, painting, electrical, and motor work. I plan on making more stories with this truck and also be able to hand her down to my son. That is my story and there will be more later on down the road!
