I restored my truck 25 years ago and was forced to sell it as my former better half insisted I had too many toys and she wanted me to downsize my collection. I drove it down to a local Jeep dealership to find her a new car and the owner asked if I would be willing to trade my truck, 1 for 1, for a new wrangler 2 door jeep. I did…sure it was a great deal….but I have been kicking myself ever since. Three weeks ago and 25 years after I restored it, I decided to look online and try to find a replacement for the1954 I wished I had never sold. At 11PM on a Tuesday evening (as God is my witness)I found the original truck that I had restored 25 years earlier in an add on Craigslist New Hampshire just 100 miles away. I emailed the owner and received a call back the next day. After a bit of Q&A, I found out he bought it from the guy that bought it from the dealer. They both had simply taken it to shows and Sunday drives for 25 years so the truck, although showcasing a 25 year makeover, still looks almost as great as the day I finished her. The owner said come and get your truck back and the rest is history…..What are the chances? My original intent was to have a cool truck to run to the home center and around town and use it as it was intended. I get to do just that every weekend. Those two interim owners certainly took great care of my baby. Hope you enjoyed the story as much as I enjoy having her back.
