My story is a long one but here’s the condensed version. I bought my 1981 F-150 step side new in Feb. 1982 in Nova Scotia. A month later I packed it up and drove to Calgary, Alberta. It had a 302 with 3 speed OD manual. I wanted more power so with the help of some friends and many long nights it evolved, from totally dismantling the truck and rebuilding to painting to dropping in a 429 police interceptor. When the engine was re-built we were informed that I had an SCJ.

The first evolution was finished in 1989. It did well in car shows but then sat in my garage for years. I kept busy with some other projects, such as a 72 Ranchero GT (sold) and a 95 Bronco (stolen). I finally got the Hellion out of the garage to modernize it and make it a joy to drive. With help from Unlimited Performance they swapped out the 4 speed for a Tremec 5 speed and matched with the 4:30 Trac-Lok. This made it much more driveable. Disc brakes all around, fuel injection, duel cooling fans, custom headers and exhaust, and line lock are some of the many improvements. I completely redid the interior and I’m now enjoy taking the truck for nice weekend drives and to occasional car shows.
