I had a beautiful 1993 GMC I purchased from my father. It got totaled, by a little old lady, who ran a red light and got cited. I waited all spring and summer, looking for the next truck. I found this 1969 on Craigslist, so I called and went to look at it. The previous owner was a GMC mechanic his whole life, and it showed in this truck. It was absolutely perfect for a ’69. I bought it 9-10-17. I drove it around one block and knew I had to never leave it’s side.

Since then I’ve changed all fluids and filters. I rebuilt the carb, and changed the fuel pump. After many hours waxing and detailing, this is what I have. I get many looks and comments. I bought the truck with 105,700 miles on it. I have receipts from the rebuild, 10-31-1997 at 97,000 miles. The truck has had less than 10,000 miles put on it in over 20 years.

I know Bob loved his truck, and I do too. He had a canopy on it from day one, so my tailgate is basically brand new. Bob also removed the hub caps because he was worried about someone stealing them. After I bought the truck, Betty called me up and said she found parts for the truck that belonged to me. She showed me the matching painted “sport” mirror arms and the rest is history.

I have never loved a truck more than I do my ’69. I park it inside and it is always 100% detailed. She is all original, and I intend to keep it that way. People who lower or add aftermarket items on a stock truck are insane! I am 32, not married with no children yet, but I imagine my future son drooling over this truck, and maybe someday, I will give it to him.
