Oh what a tale; from the humble beginnings of the United States Army in 1968 with a straight 6, 250 CI and a three on the tree. Then in 1970, the Army sold this Chevy C10 as junk in an open auction. My dad bought it and it’s stayed in the family. After awhile the straight 6 was replaced with another 6 cylinder and the transmission stayed the same. The truck was driven by all of the family members and used as the “junk truck.”

In 1990, I received the truck from my dad and the restoration began. The straight six remained for several years. I completed the body work (as I was a paint and body man) and completed the new paint, from the basic Army Olive Drab to the Chrysler dark spectrum blue.

After several car shows and the need for speed, I pulled the straight 6 and replaced the motor with a 400 CI SBC with 400 HP. This motor served the purpose for several years. Then in 2013, I pulled the 400 SBC and replaced it with a 454 BBC. The motor was rebuilt at .30 over, dome pistons, Sig Erson cam, 1.75 rockers, Edlebrock Airgap intake, Holley 870 CFM and a few more features, enabling the motor to create 600 HP, much better than the original straight 6.

After 49 years of being on the streets, this little jewel will stay in the family for generations to come.
