It all started two years ago when a friend of mine came by and told me of a 1967 K-10 Chevrolet that had been sitting in a pasture for a number of years. He thought that I could buy it for a reasonable price. We went and looked at the truck and got the VIN numbers.

After researching the background on a 1967 K-10 long wide, small window 327CI factory tack, four speed, 4×4 I found out that GM only produced 2,715 of these trucks.

With this information and the original owner’s manual I knew that I had discovered a very rare truck. So, I bought it and started the frame off restoration.

The old girl was virtually rust free with the exception of some minor rocker panel rust that is common on almost all 67-72 GM trucks.

We checked all the casting numbers and discovered that she was a numbers correct truck with the exception of the transfer case. This had been replaced with a 203 case. This we modified into a locking case thus eliminating the full time 4×4 and having four gears instead of three. We put power disc brakes on the front and manual hubs. We also installed power steering. These improvements turned a good truck into a great truck.

Then, with the help of LMC and a good paint and body man, the paint and body work were completed.

The entire interior was redone to original with the exception of the steering wheel, radio and carpet on lower door panels. We have the original Delco AM radio and outside mirrors.

We rebuilt the 327CI engine and increased the horse power to approximately 300 by adding a high performance cam and intake manifold, long tube exhaust headers and HEI ignition. The engine already had high flow camel hump cylinder heads.

Now I have to decide what I’m going to do with this very rare and gorgeous 1967 K-10.
