Over 20 years ago I inherited this 1980 Chevy Scottsdale. A farm accident took the life of our dad, Ron, the father of five boys. I was the oldest at age 20 and my youngest brother was 8. Our mother, Irene, kept our small farm going raising us to adulthood. The truck spent its life working hard on the farm and finally ended up in the corner of the machine shed covered in dust for many years. We didn’t have the heart to part with it.

Years later our mother was diagnosed with Alzheimers. To help us all cope with this devastating disease, I decided to pull the truck into the shop and restore it. Once again the truck pulls through for our family, serving us some much needed therapy involving us boys and our families. The frame off restoration took just over 3 years, working on it mostly over the winters.

The truck was featured on a Minneapolis, MN, news station, KARE 11. They have a segment called “Land of 10,000 Stories” by Boyd Hupert. We presented the truck to our mother on Mother’s Day 2016. Mom took the first ride with family, friends and film crew present. It can still be viewed by going to YouTube and typing in “Brothers rebuild memories for mom restoring dad’s truck.”

A huge thank you to the crew at LMC Truck. Lots of parts from front to back to make this special truck look just like the day our dad brought it home! Could not have been possible without LMC and the catalog also come in handy for the tear down and rebuild referencing parts as we went along.
