Tony Dattolico’s 1966 Chevy C10 Custom
I bought this 1966 Chevy C10 Custom from a motorcycle-riding buddy in 1999 in Windom, Minnesota. He purchased the truck in 1980. I have always admired it. My buddy became very sick in 1998. He was diagnosed with bone cancer. It was very sad to visit his home in Windom where he chose to be and during one of my visits he asked if I would be interested in buying the 1966 Chevy C10 Custom truck. I said that I absolutely would. We made a deal and I purchased the truck.
The truck needed cab corners and rocker panels. After I got the 1966 Chevy C10 Custom home, my neighbor in his extra time helped me to take on the project. My neighbor has been a body man for 20 years. We worked four nights a week and on weekends for a year. I was on a mission to get the ’66 done before he passed. It was a mission that failed. My buddy passed eight months into our build. I attended his funeral, said my goodbyes and came home to keep working on the truck.
The truck has been done now for 18 years. I am the caretaker of this old truck and it is one of my pride and joys.
